Santa's Little helper....

I couldn't help myself....he's just too cute and it's his first Christmas! :)

Can't believe he's 4 1/2 months already! He is growing so fast and I love how we can see his personality shining through! As of December 12th he is 19 pounds, 25 inches. Big, healthy boy! WE love him so much. Can you believe I want another one already?? joking.

We have been very busy the past month...Kaden and I went to visit Nana in Seattle! It was Kaden's first plane ride! I was so nervous to travel with him alone but it went so well!! He slept in the airport and was awake for take off but then fell asleep for the rest of the flight! He didn't even cry or anything! I wish I would have gotten a picture of us on the plane but my hands were full! We had a fun time at Nana's....did lots of christmas shopping, went to a christmas craft fair and did lots of fun cooking! Of course my mom LOVED having Kaden around....she changed pretty much every diaper and bathed him. It was a nice little break for me too! and of course it rained the entire time we were there! :)

Ryan just finished his third semester at SAIT which means he only has ONE to go! I can't believe he's almost done....where has the time gone? oh well I'm not complaining....I can't wait until he's done! I can't tell you anxious he is to be done either! We are hoping and praying he will find a good job right away but we have no idea where we will be by next summer!? We might stay in Calgary or move to Edmonton. who knows. It's exciting and we look forward to all the new changes that are in the near future.

Here are some recent photo's of our family....the first one we used for our Christmas card! I really want to get some professional photo's done hopefully in the Spring! :)

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE being a mom!!!?? It truly is the greatest thing in the world! I am loving it! Yes, sometimes I do miss working and being at my own desk and dressing up all nice but I much rather be at home taking care of my family! I am enjoying MAT leave more than u know.... ;)

Here are some more recents of us....

Playing with daddy!

I had to share these...I took some photo's of my friends daughter, Vienna! She is such a ball of fun!

Hope everyone has a safe a wonderful Holiday!!!~

Lisa's Baked Apple's

So I saw a picture of these Baked Apple's on Pinterest and was dying to try them but there was no recipe... SO I just went with it and did my own thing and they turned out pretty darn yummy! hope you like it!

Lisa's Baked Apple's

Ingredients:

4 Apples (any kind you like)
1 TSP Brown sugar
1 TSP Cinnamon
Vanilla Ice cream
Caramel sauce

Note: you can always add as much brown sugar/cinnamon as you like, and use any kind of ice cream/sauce you prefer :)

Directions:

Cut off the tops of the apple and dig out the core so there's a pool in the middle of the apple. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon inside and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven. Add a GIANT scoop of ice cream inside the apple and drizzle with Caramel sauce. Serves 4.

Enjoy!

end of summer festivities....

Just an update on Kaden.....he will be 6 weeks this sunday! AH! he's growing way too fast! he is doing really well and he's very healthy. I think I'm finally adjusted to everything...the first week was tough but I'm sure it is for every new mom. We can definitely see his little personality coming through....we love him so much!!

I know we're crazy but we decided to drive to my sister's second reception in Seattle during the september long weekend. It would have been a long drive but we stopped at my dads in Vancouver for a night to take a break and then finished the drive the next day. Kaden did really good on the drive...he slept like the entire way, besides pulling over to feed him he was really well behaved. We had a very nice family dinner for Michelle & Court at my moms place, and then an open house to follow. It was very low key but my mom and I got everything decorated and it turned out so beautiful! Michelle & Court are such a cute couple and we are so happy we were able to be there to support them even though we missed their actual sealing in California. They got married in the Sacramento, CA temple on august 24th. But we are so happy for them and glad we got to see them and finally meet Court!

As of now... Ryan is back to school full-time and back to working part-time, and I'm on MAT leave. After this semester he only has ONE semester left! Wahooo!!!!!! I cannot wait until he is done! We're counting down the days...so by this time next year who knows we'll be....?

And can I just say how excited I am for Fall!!!! It's my favourite season I love everything about it!!! can't wait to do some fall crafts, carve pumpkins, and get a cute little halloween costume for K! fun fun fun!

Kaden's Birth story

Ok finally! here is the story I know most of you have been waiting and waiting for.....sorry it took this long and sorry for the in depth details...it's for us to look back on. enjoy!

So it all started around 4am, August 11th.... I woke up and my water had broke and I'm pretty sure it was my water because I was sleeping in a puddle! I got up to walk around and it was still coming out uncontrollable so I woke up Ryan and told him we needed to go in. So off we go at 4:30am to the hospital and we are both zombies and i'm still leaking and was soaked by the time we got to the hospital. We got me checked in, I told them my water had broke so they did a swab to confirm any amniotic fluid. It came back negative and I wasn't having any contractions so the doctor sent us home around 6am. I was really surprised it wasn't my water and it bugged me for the next couple hours because I was still leaking? I was leaking so much I had to go buy bladder control pads! Yah...not my water? not urine? hmmm what is it then? I knew in my gut it was my water but Ryan and I trusted the test results and the doctor.

So all day saturday we went on walks to get things going and I spent most of my time on my exercise ball. Still no contractions until around 4pm that day I felt my first "real" contraction! They kept getting stronger and closer together over the next couple hours but didn't get strong enough until around 4am which was exactly 24 hours later after our first hospital visit. They were getting so bad I woke Ryan and told him we needed to go! So off we go the second time and I was hoping they weren't going to send us home again because I knew for sure this time I was in labour. So there we are again in the hospital at 4:30am. They got me a bed. they were monitoring my contractions and did another swab because I was STILL leaking fluid. They sent the results to the lab and then a doctor came in to tell us that it WAS my water that had broke and that they had to induce me because my water had been ruptured longer than 24 hours!!! That didn't surprise me because I knew something wasn't right and that it was my water the entire time!!! They finally got me in a room around 10:30am to start inducing, and funny thing is my mom actually landed in Calgary around that time so she ended up being there through the whole delivery. I can't tell you how supportive Ryan and my mom were. They were with me the ENTIRE time counting me through my contractions and telling me positive things to help me get through it. RYan was so amazing the whole time, he never left my side!

After a couple more hours my contractions were getting stronger so they gave me the laughing gas, it didn't do anything for me so they gave me an epidural. Oh my goodness how amazing is an epidural! lol it saved my life, so did the shower! I went in the shower for a while too and the warm water on my tummy felt amazing and the contractions didn't feel as bad. I actually fell asleep for a while after I got the epidural. THEN out of nowhere I spiked a fever and threw up twice. They were monitoring my temperature the whole time because my water had been ruptured for so long they were worried about me getting a fever and getting an infection. But I ended up without any infection thank goodness and just had a little fever. I don't even remember having a fever I was so concentrated on my breathing through my contractions. It was around 6pm my contractions were the strongest and I started pushing. Poor little Kaden's head was stuck! I was pushing for about another two hours and his head was still stuck and I was dying so they decided they were going to an episiotomy. At that point I didn't care what they did to me to help get him out because the pressure in my back was unbearable! THe only time I actually cried was at this time during the end when the pressure was so painful I felt like my back was broken. They were getting ready to do the episiotomy and I told them to hold off because I could feel that Kaden was pushing through finally! so they didn't end up doing the episiotomy and Kaden came out not even 30 minutes later! So i'm glad we held off on that! Kaden's shoulders were so wide I ended getting a third degree tear. yikes. Good thing I was still numb from the epidural I couldn't really feel it, yet.

So after all of that eventful stuff our little Kaden came into the world and they put him right on my chest when he came out! It was the most amazing feeling ever he was looking right at me!! Ryan ended up cutting the umbilical cord like he wanted. He was pretty excited to do that! After he got all cleaned up we held him and cuddled him for a bit then I had to get stitched. After that I wanted to have a nice warm shower SO bad....this is the funny part that I actually don't remember but I went into shock when I was in the shower. My mom kept trying to talk to me and I was just sitting in the shower, pale face, not answering her. She started to freak out and her and the nurse pulled me out of the shower because I was pale as a ghost apparently. I was fine after that then we got to go to our "private" room that I ended up being in for 3 days because I was having bladder problems. I wanted to go home so bad...I hate the hospital. lol that was my very first hospital experience ever. But Kaden got to room in with me so that was special and I stayed awake all night every night just looking at him! He is the cutest thing ever!!!! We are so blessed to have him in our lives. He is such a good little guy, he's very mellow, only cries when he's hungry. We are so lucky! I'm also very proud to say he was born on his official due date! yay! All in all everything was an amazing experience and being a mom is the best thing in the world. Sorry the pictures are kinda blurry...we didn't have our good camera with us we took all these on our phones.
